Bob and I just returned from two weeks in Europe including 4 days of hunting in Romania with Italian friends and their Bracchi. Romania has one of only a few areas remaining in Europe with good wild hunting areas. So we thought it would be fun to try the “South Dakota of Europe”. Bob and I arrived in Bucharest on a Saturday afternoon not really knowing what to expect from the country or the hunting area. We weren't meeting our friends until Sunday so we spent the night in a nice boutique hotel in Bucharest. We arranged to get a driver from the airport and I am glad we did. The streets in Romania are not exactly marked and the drivers are the typical crazy Europeans. In fact, the one item that stood out in Romania was the wide use of horse pulled carts on the country roads. I felt like I was in the movie Fiddler on the Roof at times. |
